“Fourteen people were murdered in San Bernardino yesterday.”
“Yeah, I read that this is the 352nd mass shooting this year;
Four hundred and sixty dead so far…”
“Prayers and flowers aren’t enough. They need to take guns away!”
“Oh, you bleeding heart! Don’t you know you’re playing into fear?”
“Oh yeah? What’s your side done so far?
God and guns! That’s the answer! Bible thumping, that’s the way!”
“Well, all you care about you liberal fool, is smoking dope, drinking beer!
It’s no wonder the country has slid so far!”
“Yeah, that’s right and you worship the great sky-daddy! It doesn’t pay!
Religion should be outlawed! Nothing but old superstitions and fear!
Look where your God has taken us so far!”
“You fool! The world will be so much better when God wipes you all away!
You’d better watch who you’re talking to! You better have some fear!
My patience is short! Patience only goes so far!”
“You asinine Neanderthal! First you curse me and then tell me I should pray?
You hypocritical, throwback of evolution! I want all of you dead! Get out of here!
It’s your fault! Your ideals led us away so far!”
“You self-loathing liberal! You are blind to the enemy and bring them home to stay!
You hater of God, mom, and apple pie! Good for nothing but to mock and jeer!
We good folks will only allow you to go so far!”
“You bigoted, ignorant hater! Don’t you know you worship the same God as ‘they’?
That wrathful God is the God I hate! The same God you worship and tell me to fear!
My reason won’t allow me let you go that far!”
“All of you think you are so smart but we’re the ones with all the guns stashed away!
Your side can abort yourselves into oblivion! Do you think I care!
Don’t push me! I can take this very far!”
“Yeah, right tough guy! There’s more than one way to kill a bigot! You better start to pray!
Your side has dished it out long enough! Now, pay your share!
Exterminate the lot of you! Yeah, I’ll go that far!”
Fourteen people were murdered in San Bernardino yesterday.
352 mass shootings, with 460 people dead, just this year;
Murderous hearts take it all too far!
It isn’t terror, it’s a horror, that seems to be here to stay;
It isn’t God, or guns, there’s no political fix; it’s murderous fear,
That drives the need to control too far!
Has enough blood been spilled to turn us around to walk another way?
Or will we continue to seek solutions in death and fear?
Are we really so stubborn to take it so far?
Have you done a body count for this new century, or did you just notice yesterday?
Millions have died in this war of terror, this horrifying war of fear!
Blood is everywhere and it has gone much too far!
Jesus weeps for those who were gunned down and died yesterday,
He knows them all; lovingly counts the number of every fallen hair;
And weeps over murderous hearts taking it too far!
Shoo, man, you’ve got all the characters talking.

Great truth, but “Bravo!”
This is exactly what we had discussed yesterday, regarding art and purpose. There cannot be a higher purpose than the revealing of Truth, for there is only one Truth.
Oh! This inspires me so! Ha! Well done. Very well done!

Thank you but it is written with a lot of tears…we number and categorize violent deaths and minimize what we are doing to each other…if we add the people who’ve died on our southern border in the effort to bring Americans the drugs we consume, and add the people who’ve died in the desert trying to get here for a better life after NAFTA destroyed their economy, if we add the kids destroyed by human trafficking, kids destroyed by drugged out parents, the murders that happen every day, murder through abortion…I mean, where do I stop? The root cause is murder in human hearts as a means to get what we want. Choosing sides and yelling at one another…we just need to stop! We all have blood on our hands!

I understand.
I have to often remind myself that this is not new, for there is nothing new under the sun. There is a time for the work of both good and evil while upon this earth, but I am blessed and promised that God has intended to work ALL to the good of those who love and trust in Him.
Violence is the epitome of sin. For in the days of Noah, “The earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with violence.”For this, he cleansed the earth, and promised not to do it again in the same way afterward, but yet, there will be another cleansing to come.
What we must know is that only God can do that work and we must have the faith of Noah to prepare the task before us, within our hands.
It’s easy to allow that vexation to grip our hearts, like Lot, but hold fast to God’s word and know He does not slumber but will make an end to evil. 🙂
You’re such a blessing.

Thank you, Jacob. Bless you. I know all of that to be true…somedays, I can’t feel it…I just get overwhelmed by the ‘now’. Still, I also, feel my joy waiting for me to turn away from sorrow. Jesus won’t abandon us.

He never will.
To hold onto a promise, we have to believe in the one who gave it.
Feelings fade and change, they’re as temperamental as the seas, but the sun will always rise, steadfast and unchanging even though we don’t always see it due to the clouds blocking our view.
Sorrow is powerful. It is also good. But sorrow will “Last for a night, for joy come with the morning.” (Along with the sun)
Ha! I may have to write a poem . . .

Yes, I think it is over. I’m changed by it though. Not what you were writing…by the experience. I know it’s one reason things are hitting me so hard. You writing on the other hand is a strengthening influence.:0)

I’m pleased my writing has helped, in whatever way it has.
As I’m on my sabbatical, I’m learning a lot and listening more. I’ve observed how easy it is for writers to become entangled with the themes, styles, and spirits of other writers; and this I should be more cautious and wary over.
By shutting out the public from their influence, it’s given me an honest perspective and lesson of how I need to adjust. No one is perfect. No one is righteous. But irregardless of that, I need to strive to represent the Truth the best I can and work out my salvation with fear.
You are a joy and blessing. You have more of an impact than you realize. 🙂

Yes, we all influence each other. I too want to maintain the purity of my own voice and express Truth as only, I can. It’s a struggle to write online, interact, not get drawn into agendas. I left social media, which is blog suicide I guess. I started a new page on FB but I don’t have the heart to promote it after my experience on another site. I’ve decided it is better to write for the few than the many. Thank you for your support, Jacob. I do want to be a positive influence. God bless.

It is a clear and present danger, because the people have caved to political correctness and turned from what is right and good in this country. All we have to do is return to God and he will heal our land. Thanks for a great post!

Repentance IS the answer…none of can do anything to control others but all of us can stop pointing fingers of blame and look inward asking God to change our hearts. We so desperately need God’s Love and He offers it freely…

Some Atheists we can reach Pam, some we can’t, No we are not to judge their eternal Destiny only God knows their heart, they may repent on their deathbed but if we have shared God’s Truth when them and they have rejected it, we wipe the dust off our sandals and walk away or we will become polluted with their propaganda and this is the same with Carnal fleshy Christians, Deceived or Childish ones, God’s Truth is foolishness to them. 1Corinthians2:9-16
Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is Holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your Pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
2 Corinthians 4:3-5 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogancy and the evil way, and the froward mouth do I hate.(KJV)

Yes, that’s true. What is happening in the U.S. is deep division among the people and we are tearing each other apart when we need to come together. People make political footballs out of every tragedy and our leaders are adept at doing this to pit us against each other and keep themselves in power. I wrote this to try and get people from all sides to focus on the loss of life and the blood shed, and the reality that people commit murder for no other reason than they have murder in their hearts and they want their way…it isn’t God’s fault, guns don’t walk around killing people, people kill people. Thank you for your love, Anne. Keep the U.S. in your prayers. I know you Australians have your struggles with terrorism too. It effects everyone.

Welcome, Dawn. I think that is all any of us can hope to do. We surely, have no control over what our government decides to do. We need to pull together instead of arguing over what we can’t control. God bless and keep you and yours.

Tommorow I’ll be a guest speaker at a church where one of the sisters there just posted on facebook of a friend of hers that was killed. That kind of hit closer to home. All the voices speaking…but I think we all agree this is a terrible act of depravity. And yet some still don’t hold to a biblical view of sin…

It is sad here when we here your gun stories truly. Especially the possibility of it being terrorist. You did capture the feeling of your country well.

Murder can’t be legislated out of people’s hearts and laws never stop people of ill intent from doing the evil they want to do. There are so many guns in the U.S. that they’ll never be able to get rid of them but they can make it where only bad guys and the government have guns. What frustrates me is the horror of what is happening being skipped over and made into political footballs that divide the people when we need to come together. We’re allowing politicians and the media to fracture us.

Yes we get the politics over here on the news about your gun laws. It seems to go round in circles over there and no solution. I just hope for honest people with families it gets better soon.

America has always been a very spiritual nation. We desperately, need to turn back to God. One of our founders, Daniel Webster said, “We will either be governed by the Bible or the bayonet.” Many have left God and Bible behind and I’m afraid we are entering a time of governance by the bayonet. Freedom requires a moral people. I can get very sad about the state of my country. I have to keep my focus on Jesus.

I suppose that is all you can do, we did study your country in the school that was during a time of peace though. Today life is sad and the only way I have come to learn is turning to God. Whoever gets elected in both countries I do hope the turn to God for answers.

“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things” (Isaiah 45:7 King James version).

Hi Atreya, I tend to read more modern translations and in this instance, I think the NJKJV expresses the portion of scripture in a way that is better understood by modern people and I want to put it in greater context starting at verse five: I am the LORD, and there is no other; There is no God besides me, I will gird you, though you have not known Me, That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the LORD and there is no other; I form the light and create the darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the LORD, do all these things.’ “Rain down, you heavens, from above, And let the skies pour down righteousness; Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation, And let righteousness spring up together; I, the LORD, have created it.
It’s true, God does sit above good and evil and though He is not evil, He does allow evil but also, limits it. Just as He allows us free will and the ability to choose between good and evil. In the book of Job, it says that God allows evil in our lives so, that we will turn back to Him. Personally, I never would have reached up for God if I hadn’t suffered the full weight of my choices for evil. The context of the full chpt. 45 in Isaiah is God’s demonstration of Who He is and Who is in control of all things. Verses 9-10 describe Him as the potter and we the clay. I’m not exactly, sure what you were trying to express by quoting this verse but the God of the Bible isn’t a God of evil, even though He allows our choices and the consequences of them. Terror attacks and mass shootings aren’t God’s fault. The people who commit those acts are the responsible parties, no one else.
God bless you, Atreya and thank you for reading and commenting.

Pam, this was so heartfelt. You captured exactly what we do to each other. Jesus preached love and unity, and I’m afraid our tongues and actions speak and run in the opposite direction when tragedies like this occur. We all need to help bring our brothers and sisters back to Christ. Thank you for your brave words today.
