Vapors

Vapors rise to form clouds and dreams.

Most take flight to drift on a pleasant breeze,

Then dissipate unremembered.

The few give of themselves to the nurturing of green hills;

Causing flowers to bloom in bursting color!

While others grow, gather, rumble, and flash!

Turning day to night under fear’s shadow;

Destructive damaging force!

Genesis in primordial mist of human imagination…

The world we created first in our dreams,

Then swept away in the flood of our iniquity!

I surrender these misty dreams of mine to Holy Spirit sway!

I prepare for that Day when a world created from toxic fumes

Is burned and only Holiness remains.

The Source of Genuine, Indestructible Joy

My joy isn’t dead, no matter how I feel. Even though everything on my plate is seasoned with pain, Jesus lives! Though the boot-heal of oppression bears down in an attempt to grind me into dust, my hope is un-crushable. Even when my happiness shatters and all those I love move beyond my embrace, love isn’t carnal or mortal. When my body is broken, then passed around as bread and my blood becomes a drink, a sacrifice consumed but unrecognized, Jesus is my validation. He walked this path before me. He set the standard. True sacrifice isn’t made in hopes of personal reward. Though I fall and the weight of this cross I bear is too much for me to lift again to carry, God’s ultimate plan remains. When my eyes are blind with the tears of sorrow and agony causes me to no longer care, a new blast of His breath enters me and by His strength I rise to move forward. Though the sting of sin poisons everything I see and touch by the fulfillment of His Will, not mine, I will press beyond Death’s boundary and reach the ultimate prize. In Jesus I possess indestructible joy which He bought by His obedience and blazed the Way predestined for me to follow. This narrow path I must walk despising all worldly gain. I am nearer now to the finish than I was yesterday. Though in this world I endure suffering and can’t always feel my joy, when I finish this race, my agony will melt away. When my body dies to become ashes and dust, I know Death has no power over my soul. Though this present night is deepening, soon the Son will rise with healing in His wings! When morning comes, my feet will rest on the eternal shore. I will forget the effects of sin’s painful sting and cry no more. Jesus is my eternal joy.

Job 42:1-6 “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’ My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen You. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

Under a Cold Sun

Virtual sun-shine, so brilliantly cold!

Ruling the land without sympathy.

Some lives don’t matter! I’m told,

Rid the burden! Despise empathy!

Toward the unborn, those too old…

State decides whose life is worthy.

Drones obliterate in sums untold.

A bloodless click! A war so stealthy…

Beware silent attack! Horrors behold!

Non-endangered, Power’s Wealthy.

By Mandate, bread turns to mold…

Individualism? Deemed unhealthy.

Comply or force into collective fold.

No God above the State Authority!

Truth? Twisted interpretation sold…

State owes none, no accountability!

Arbitrary law enforced on the bold,

Who speak, Truth to Power Wealthy.

Manipulation: souls bought re-sold…

Chaotic border keeps covert slavery.

Organs bought or stolen; living gold!

Old woes revisited, intensify misery,

Beneath a virtual sun burning so cold!

Totalitarian

I look around me and see,

Everything I’ve known coming apart;

Angry people seeking unity in common hatred,

Tribes forming; preparing for a great battle…

Over the lost soul of a too proud nation.

Denying the Spirit that kept them,

Bent on destruction,

On war.

“It’s time to tear it all down!” they say,

Abandon that old Constitution, let’s go backward,

And instead be like Europe, that far superior model!

Of Democratic Socialism, “we’ll all feed each other man”

But government workers produce no food, no housing, no necessities…

We’ll leave all of that to a sub-class of workers,

Independent Neanderthals of small business!

And immigrant workers with no legal status…

Slaves to serve the governing elite!

Equality earned through compliance.

To the Government,

Who bestows it;

Totalitarian.

But look what we’ve built they say!

A tall tower of power and untold wealth!

A marriage of Corporation and Government;

Come! Get in bed with us and we’ll make your dreams come true!

Just sign this contract, pay your dues, we’ll keep you safe from terrorists!

Give us your liberty in exchange for health care and we’ll pretend to be capitalists!

But forget that old Constitution, idealism never to be…

Be pragmatic; say to yourself “What’s in it for me?”

Tear down that dream in your heart,

Old dream of personal liberty!

Equality, freedom for all,

Morally sound persons,

Longing to be free…

Crush them!

Progressive!

Totalitarian.

They tore Woodstock down as a prophecy…

In their desperation born glee of destruction!

In hatred of the global giant their parents deny but all see;

The Beastlike Government growing and growing…

In youth, hearts long to be free!

Rebellion whispers,” Anarchy!”

“Don’t tread on me!”

But no, not the Constitution!

Old White man’s Document!

Lost in interpretation…

No borders! No boundaries!

Each to their own!

Liberty to the strongest!

By the Gun!

Personal Totalitarian,

Chaos.

Mourning America, I went searching for freedom’s song,

The one that echoes in this old American heart:

Individual freedom; guarded by morality;

Equal value; God given rights to life,

Liberty, and pursuit of happiness;

Freedom to succeed and to fail;

All outlined in the Constitution.

Old Document that when left to do so,

Interprets itself.

The forgotten

Answer!

The true American Dream;

The Spirit of right Unity;

A common dream of personal liberty,

With respect for the liberty of others;

Dependence upon God not Government,

Freedom maintained by healthy morality,

That denies the need to be governed,

By other men and women;

Totalitarian

Rule ends;

If we but begin,

Again,

On our knees!

And live as the men and women,

God intended us to be.

Are you willing? “To die or live free?”

Or will you knuckle under,

Submit,

To Totalitarian.

Peace on Bended Knee

This hope I’m sending on the wings of faith,

Is more than my day-dream of goodwill and peace…

This is a promise; made so long ago for all willing to receive;

Riding the wings of a dove; open up to faith!

Be received; held securely, be filled, know peace…

Blindness doesn’t characterize those of faith!

Learn to dream truthfully, to pray, and with surety believe!

Spiritually unified, depend on the Author of peace!

Meditate on a Kingdom of pure conscience, in mind conceive…

Hope good or evil bears fruit, is born in faith.

Grim realities born from carnal hopes frustrate peace.

Blessed are the peacemakers, who in humility do believe,

In Jesus the Author, the Finisher of true faith!

Religion, politics, revolution, nor compromise holds peace;

No human authority can change humanity’s heart to conceive,

Ideas contrary to human nature, apart from faith;

Open heart’s eyes and realize your hope and mine for peace,

Coming! When all confessing Christ bend knee and believe!

The Messiah’s Birth

These songs of joy I sing in a minor key will someday be rewritten in the major. In a future where all sorrow melts in the brightness of God’s glory. There all will be warmed by divine love, as the sun rests, no longer needing to shine. The moon will enjoy peaceful slumber, as there will be no night-time to light. The righteous will no longer fear the wicked, for wickedness will have passed away. God’s Law will be engraved on every heart and willingly obeyed through conscience surrendered to Christ, the Messiah. In such a happy land, no tears are needed. There’s nothing to mourn, no pain, no sickness. Death’s malicious shadow will no longer caste its pale over the living and having met its own end, will be remembered no more. The oppositional one and his minions will no longer taunt God nor tempt mankind but will be locked away eternally in a prison of tormenting flames. War will rage no more, as everyone will live in peace with God and one another. Good will shall replace all malice and no curses will proceed from any mouth but instead, only blessings. Every redeemed, living soul will be glorified in the likeness of Christ

This is the promised Kingdom established thousands of years ago, when a baby was born in Bethlem. This baby born in destitute poverty on earth, Who is the Son of the Most High God and Creator of the universe, was given by the Father as a sacrifice, as a ransom for many. He was sent to make God known through His obedient actions, even to obediently dying as a sacrificial lamb for the sins of mankind. No one knows the exact day He was born but most everyone knows the story of the Son of God who visited earth as the Son of Man and was incarnate in a tiny baby, born to poor parents, in a stable used to house animals, swaddled in rags, and laid to sleep in a manger filled with hay for the animals that witnessed His birth. Even though this child was born as a ‘nobody’, there were those who knew His true identity, knew He was coming, and wanted to destroy Him in order to protect their power. King Herod was among them and he called upon the Magi, those knowledgeable, scientific thinkers of that time who predicted His birth. These wise men, observers of the night sky, followed an unusual star that led them to the home of Jesus. These important men in uncounted number, bowed before the young boy and gifted Him with Frankincense and Myrrh, perfumes used for burial. Though the Wise Men, by use of their knowledge discerned the identity and purpose of this poor child, bearing the common Hebrew name, Jesus, they were not among those to whom Christ Jesus was first revealed. It was poor shepherds, uneducated and lowly, who were present soon after Jesus’ birth, which was announced to them by the angels! Eight days later, when the baby was presented for circumcision, the true identity and purpose of Jesus was also, revealed to the faithful, devout man Simeon. Just as today, not many sophisticates acknowledge Jesus Christ, while many who are poor and downtrodden, with the devoted, cling to His Holy Name. Yet, Jesus was sent to die for everyone, not only the poor and uneducated and just as the Magi bowed before Jesus someday, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord of all. Even though most are too prideful to accept the gift of God’s Son, there will come a day when everyone will acknowledge Jesus Christ as Messiah, as King.

The world and those who held power because of its systems hated Jesus and wanted to kill Him. King Herod was the first and upon feeling betrayed by the Wise Men, whom God warned in a dream not to return to Herod after finding the Christ child, took it upon himself to slaughter every two-year old, first- born son in a desperate, murderous attempt to kill Jesus. However every evil sent to destroy Jesus, the Father worked to the good and in everything, Jesus fulfilled the scriptures that prophesied of Him. Jesus was protected from death until the day upon which He was appointed to die. It was the Pharisees, religious leaders who felt most threatened by Him and the betrayal of a disciple who loved money more than God, who accomplished what Herod attempted when Jesus was only, a child. These wicked men, no matter how subversive their actions, couldn’t subvert the purpose of God, in freeing many from sin and death through the death of His Son on the Cross. Even though these wicked persons were able to crucify the Messiah, they couldn’t keep Him in the grave. After three days, Jesus rose to live again. The disciples and many other persons witnessed and testified to this event. Then Jesus ascended into the Heavens, to sit at the right hand of His Father, and promised to return in the same way. On that day, He will be known as the Lion of Judah and His Kingdom will be visibly established on the earth. Everyone will be forced to recognize JESUS as King.

This is the purpose of the incarnation of Christ Jesus. He didn’t come to establish a new religion. Jesus was born to die and by His blood sacrifice in payment for the sins of mankind, set many captives free. The religion He practiced was the Jewish religion, as given in the Bible. He lived such an obedient, sinless life that He fulfilled the Law, the Feasts, the Festivals, and all the Words of the Prophets. He requires no special remembrance on any special day. He created no Mass or ritual that must be kept. The only, ordinances He asks us to observe are Baptism, as an outward sign of our new birth through faith in Him; and The Lord’s Supper, in remembrance of Him and the sacrifice He made to purchase our souls and give us eternal life. He asks us to keep His Commandments by loving God first and each other, in the same way that He loves us. We are to practice a pure religion of visiting widows and orphans in affliction and live a moral life. This is the Way He leads us in and this is the narrow path of faith His beloved are to walk, as we watch and wait for His return and the appearing of His Kingdom.

I am mindful of all these things as December 25th approaches and on that day, as on every other day, I want to honor Jesus. I pray that I not be caught up in the things that move the worldly. May my heart not be set on the material world at all. Let me not be distracted by traditions and religious ritual, from performing the good works that God assigns for me to accomplish on that day. Let me not be caught up in the controversy over Pagan origins and the trappings of those who worship the creature rather than the Creator. I hope to keep my focus on my Lord Jesus and His simple Truth. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I will keep Jesus at the center of the day, December 25, 2015 and every day, as I should. He is the reason for every season of my life. I faithfully and patiently wait for Christ’s return, completing the work begun over two thousand years ago; when the Son of God set aside His power to be born in the form of a helpless baby, of low status, on an unknown day.

Ref: Matthew 1-2, Luke 2:1-40, Isaiah, The Revelation of Jesus Christ

“As You Did it to The Least of These”

The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy[c] angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him,[d] saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

The Refuge

Emerald leaves full of life transformed into rubies and gold have all fallen; leaving bare, grey branches shivering in the wind. The cold hard ground connects with freezing air putting the atmosphere in deep freeze. Black storm clouds are building on every horizon, moving to meet overhead and collide in an epic storm, like no storm every known by beast or man. “It’s ‘El Nino’ or climate change” they say without believing it down deep where the frightening truth lies not long to be denied. There are those other voices warning that this is God’s wrath, true voices mixed with the false, one as warning that points to Jesus for safety, the other for personal power gained by deceit and promotion of fear; but none can deny the storm is coming! There is little time to prepare and the bitter cold is deepening, driving everything living to find warmth and shelter underground or fly away to a hidden place that’s warm; but neither option comes by human choice but only, by God’s direction, according to His secret timing.

The storm is here! The havoc it wreaks is much too great for FEMA or Church outreach, or UN Relief. This is the epic storm that will subdue every institution of man and disable all his power to help or hurt himself or others. This is the storm that will bring it all down and leave no earthly refuge. This is the end of all human dominion. This is the final season of Death and the only, safe place is in Jesus Christ. He is the one in which all things consist and all things are held together. He is the source of eternal life, the only, One who connects us to the Father; the Author of Life, Who gives breath to everything living. All things must die when He takes His breath away. He is the only, viable refuge and shelter in this terrible, life-ending storm!

See the signs, decipher the signs, but children of God you must walk by faith not sight! Signs and miracles are for the unbelieving world. Don’t let fear overtake you and fill your heart with dread! Do today as we are asked to do every day; look to God for guidance and obey. Trust in the Father to keep you safe, to shelter you, and give you strength to endure. He will keep us from the evil when we rely upon Him. Trust His plan and look forward in hope to all He has promised when that plan is completed. Remain loyal to Jesus, in word, thought, and action by relying on the Holy Spirit to enable you to accomplish the good work assigned to you. Seek the sure refuge that comes by faith and don’t listen to any voice other than the voice of Jesus. The familiar voice you know and recognize as belonging to your Shepherd. Though the threat is overwhelming and the storm violently rages, altering the very planet on which we live, knocking it out of balance, changing everything; God never changes. By faith, cling to Jesus, as you watch and wait for His bodily return.

Joyous Rest

Empowerment entwined in purple stems of lavender, growing on the east side of the old, grey wash house. Expertly cut and crushed to fill heart-shaped sachets’, then tucked beneath my pillow to assure restful dreams between lightly starched sheets sprinkled with rain-water. Moon beams filtered through sheer white Pricilla curtains, to guide my thoughts toward a gentler land, filled with peace. This the greatest gift my grandmother gave me out of her love; a taste of the Heavenlies, safe from the turmoil of the oppressors, the controllers who ruled my childhood through chaos and emotional terror. Her sweet gift a demonstration of the ability given to those who belong to Jesus; the ability to rise above and find refuge in He who is seated at the right hand of God. Her gift enabled me to survive the destruction of my childhood and also, prepared my heart to receive Christ and find refuge from a sin-torn world in Jesus.

I am much older now, my childhood is far behind but the world hasn’t changed. The oppressor still does his best to force a bit of fear in my mouth and bridle me with terror. He wants to ride my life’s energy and use my talents, as he works to force me to submerge my purpose into his but my life is hidden in Christ. The good works I am to accomplish are predestined in Him. They unfold before me each day and by obedience I walk to fulfill my Father’s Will for my life. There is no agenda for me to create or adopt, no warlike crusade to embark upon; I am to live a simple life in Christ. When the oppressor breathes heavily down my neck, in my spirit I fly to the Rock that is so much higher than I and I find strength to continue. In Jesus I rise above the fray and find life, love, peace, and joy in a place even better than the refuge created for me by my grandmother. This place of safety and healing is available to all who belong to Jesus. It is accessed through trust in God, prayer, and time spent in God’s Word. Strength and hope are found in Jesus (now, sitting in the seat of God’s good works) who has gone ahead to prepare a place for us; our Heavenly refuge that we visit now but one day will be Home. I believe that every room in my mansion will be filled with the scent of Lavender. Oppression will be forgotten and, and every heart filled with love, joy, and peace. There will be no temptation for one human being to control another because Jesus will be recognized as Lord of all and God’s good work on earth fulfilled. That which was predestined at the founding of the earth will be completed and those called and chosen in Christ will enter God’s eternal rest.

Ephesians

Joy Waits on God

I am war-weary, in need of a furlough, and awaiting an honorable discharge. I am battle-hardened but this war is long; it has been raging for centuries, filling the earth with blood. My enemy is a deceptive predator who sometimes, weakens me by sneaking into my thoughts. You see, I once fought on his side, he thought he owned me. I was his tool, a common weapon that he had no regard for, and he thought to destroy me just for the twisted joy of practicing destruction. Please understand, my enemy, who was once my master can only, destroy. He has no power to build and he is enraged because the purpose that drives him has only one end, his own destruction. He targets me with his vengeance because I am the tool he prized for dishonor that was rescued by the One Who limits his power; by giving him over to his own desire. Though I once belonged to the enemy and was set to suffer his fate, my Savior rescued me, cleaned me up, repaired me, and gave me a new purpose. I no longer serve the purpose of destruction. I now, serve a new Master, my Friend, Who is the author of eternal life. By His Mercy, I live to serve God and surrender all that I am for His honor and glory.

The war I endure as hardship is the war with sin within. Those old thoughts and desires that the enemy knows so well and does all he can do to re-ignite, in hopes of weakening me and bringing me down. He oppresses me by the sin that flourishes without, in hopes of making my new purpose ineffective. He attacks and wounds my flesh, he threatens my existence. He taunts me, deceives me, and sets traps to make me fall. He accuses me of the evil he wishes me to commit. He castes his shame on me, hoping to weigh me down with undo guilt. He mocks me as he also, mocks my God, my Savior. He surrounds me with clouds of confusion like poison gas. He’s desperate because he knows he’s fighting a war he can’t win and that desperation has driven him mad. His fury is unleashing now to destroy everything and everyone in his limited power to destroy. He seeks to destroy me and those others like me who belong to Jesus. He can drain our blood and break our bodies but our souls belong to Jesus, the One Whose body was broken, blood drained out, but rose to live again.

Though all who believe in Jesus, in whom the Holy Spirit dwells, be wiped from the earth, they will remain safe in Jesus, awaiting His return. Then the enemy of man, God, and life will have his full season; a short time to visibly reign as god and bring woe to those who remain on the earth. Then Jesus and His called out company will return and cut that awful season short; because God is merciful and does not rejoice in the death of the wicked. Then my enemy will do hard time, awaiting Judgment, an eternal sentence in the prison of the torture he invented and visited on God’s children; suffering the eternal torment that belongs to the enemy of God. Then I will receive my furlough, it will last 1,000 years, in a world very different from the world I live in now. Joy won’t have to hide. Joy won’t be frustrated. Joy will over-flow and rejoice in the rapture of ultimate liberty!

My honorable discharge will come on the day I set foot in the new heaven and new earth, after one final battle with Satan; but it will be short. By then, all will know Satan for the loser he is, and sin will no longer sting and infect God’s children with death. Until then, I wait for my Jesus to return, strengthened by the joy I have in Him; protected in battle, my wounds tended, and relying on God for final victory. When overwhelmed by the specter of the enemy’s destructive force, I look up. Jesus is coming soon and I walk by faith, not by sight.
